Jamaican Reggae Dance

Our founder having a laugh on Jamaica's 50th

Real knows real!

Happy 50th anniversary Jamieka.

Jamaican Reggae Dance has taken the world by storm. It is being danced in almost every country in the world according to some of our founder's classmates and very close friends - Jamaican Musicians who play for the likes of Maxi, Third World, Jimmy, Berris, Inner Circle and many more top artistes and groups that tour the world on a yearly basis.

It basically derived from Ska dance into full Reggae Dance in the late seventies, which is actually when Reggae music took the world by surprise. There was also a shift to a more modern or international form - dancehall, during the late eighties when top DJs would employ a dancer to enhance their performances on stage. This was a cross between Go-Go dancing and Street Reggae dancing.

Jamaicans grow up with Reggae so dancing comes naturally to all. But not everyone can be an instructor of this art. An instructor needs to be able to break down each move into single actions in order to make his or her student fully grasp the meaning and function of each action and the dance on a whole.

Braata relies on the technical abilities of its Study Partners to impart the knowledge of Jamaican Reggae dancing to every student. Each dance is analysed to its core and taught with much professionalism to achieve perfection.

Everyone can do wainy but how many can do it properly. Come take a look at Braata's Study Partners in action in a free trial lesson and we are sure you'll be satisfied and keep coming back for more.
