Jamaican Domino Game

Playing Jamaican style domino

Jamaican Domino Game is a relatively easy table game to play that requires 3 or 4 players per game. It can be found in every bar in Jamaica.

Here's how it is played;
At first, 4 players sit at a table with four corners. One player per corner. Look at the picture on the left.

  • Place all 28 domino cards on a flat surface - table, with the numbers hidden or facing down.

  • One player shuffles - mix, the dominos thoroughly by hand.

  • Each player then takes seven (7) dominos. Make sure the other players are not able to see your dominos.

  • The player with double 6 - twelve dots on one domino, plays or poses first in the first game only. All of the following games start by the winner of the previous game.

  • Each player tries to play a matching domino Counter-clockwise or to the right.

  • If a player cannot match a domino, he has to skip and the player to his right plays.

  • The first player to match or place all his or her dominoes on the table is the winner.

There are 28 domino cards made of plastic or ivory so the dominos can be shared equally in four (4) groups of seven (7). The aim is to get rid of all your dominoes before the other players do.
There are six (6) games in one (1) set. If there are many players waiting for a turn to play, here or at the end of one set is a good place to change players so that many players can participate. By the way, the child in the top right-hand corner was only five years old in this game, but he won quite a few of the games.

Check our event calendar to find out when and where the next Jamaican Domino Games will be played. Better yet, let Braata organise a Jamaican Domino Game event in your neighbourhood. Once you get the hang of it, you are going out to get your own set of dominos for sure.

It is always a lot of fun and Braata makes it even better.
